The Home Critical Care Nurse (Female) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in their homes. The role involves monitoring patient health, administering prescribed treatments, and ensuring continuity of care under the guidance of physicians and clinical supervisors. The nurse should maintain professionalism, empathy, and discretion while delivering care in a home environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care & Monitoring
Provide direct nursing care to patients with critical conditions such as ventilator support, tracheostomy, post-operative, or palliative care.
Monitor vital signs including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiration rate.
Administer medications as per doctor's prescription and maintain accurate records.
Assist in procedures like suctioning, nebulization, dressing, catheterization, and feeding through NG tube or PEG.
Ensure comfort, hygiene, and safety of the patient at all times.
2. Medical Equipment Handling
Operate and maintain medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, oxygen concentrators, and monitors.
Report equipment malfunction or abnormalities immediately to the supervisor.
Ensure proper sanitization and safe usage of all medical devices.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed patient records including medication chart, nursing notes, and daily progress.
Report any changes in patient condition to the attending doctor or nursing supervisor.
Update family members about patient progress in a professional and compassionate manner.
4. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with doctors, physiotherapists, and paramedical staff for continuity of care.
Communicate effectively with patient's family regarding care routines, diet, and hygiene.
Ensure timely follow-up and adherence to treatment plans.
5. Hygiene & Infection Control
Follow infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene and waste disposal.
Maintain a clean and organized environment in the patient's room.
Educate attendants and family members on infection prevention practices.
Employer Requirements:
Education:
General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution
Valid Nursing Registration (State Nursing Council)
Experience:
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in ICU, critical care, or home healthcare setup
Skills & Competencies:
Proficient in patient assessment, IV administration, and emergency response
Skilled in handling life-support equipment
Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills
Empathetic and patient-centric approach
Ability to work independently and responsibly in a home setting
