The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the housekeeping staff to ensure that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet the hotel's standards of cleanliness and presentation. The role involves training and supervising room attendants and other housekeeping staff, conducting inspections, and managing daily operations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants, public area attendants, and linen room staff.
Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and employee areas for cleanliness, appearance, and proper set-up, ensuring hotel standards are met.
Train, mentor, and evaluate housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and hotel policies.
Prepare daily work assignments and allocate rooms/areas to be cleaned.
Maintain housekeeping inventory, including linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities; assist in stock control and requisitions.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Engineering or Maintenance department.
Handle guest complaints and special requests professionally and promptly.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
Support environmental sustainability initiatives, including proper linen reuse programs and chemical usage.
Collaborate with the front office and other departments to ensure room readiness and guest satisfaction.
Prepare shift reports and assist in scheduling.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification is a plus.
Proven experience (2-3 years) in hotel housekeeping, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with housekeeping equipment and cleaning chemicals.
Basic computer skills (MS Office; knowledge of PMS systems like Opera is an advantage).
Good communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Working Conditions:
Physically demanding--may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals.
Requires wearing a uniform and adherence to hotel grooming standards.
