The Storage Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise storage systems across on-premises and cloud environments. This position is responsible for the implementation, management, and optimization of storage solutions, including Nasuni, DFS, NTFS permissions, SharePoint, Azure Storage, and Autodesk Construction Cloud. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless data access, robust recovery capabilities, and strict compliance with regulatory standards. By maintaining high availability, automating routine tasks, and supporting strategic migrations, the Storage Administrator enables efficient, secure, and scalable operations that support business continuity and digital transformation across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable recovery of files, folders, and systems across supported storage platforms through point-in-time restores and proactive testing.

• Maintain comprehensive recovery documentation and conduct regular drills to validate effectiveness and compliance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity during recovery events.

• Provision, configure, and maintain Nasuni appliances, including patching via Dell OpenManage and managing volume connectivity.

• Design and manage DFS namespaces to ensure high availability and fault tolerance across the enterprise.

• Implement and audit NTFS permissions using best practices, including proper inheritance and cleanup of obsolete access rights.

• Establish and manage group-based access controls to enforce security and compliance standards.

• Configure drive mappings across platforms using PowerShell, Python, and Bash scripts to automate routine tasks.

• Deploy and manage mapped drives via Group Policy Objects (GPO) and Microsoft Intune for modern, secure environments.

• Support the integration of SharePoint Online document libraries by importing and organizing project data.

• Configure and monitor Azure Storage accounts, including replication (GRS/LRS), secure transfer, and lifecycle management policies.

• Advise on the adoption and optimization of Autodesk Construction Cloud for design and engineering workflows.

• Enforce security hardening of storage systems in alignment with industry best practices.

• Manage access controls and permissions across all platforms to prevent unauthorized access.

• Maintain and test data retention policies to meet legal, regulatory (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX), and organizational requirements.

• Monitor storage performance and capacity utilization, generating reports to forecast future needs.

• Implement optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Troubleshoot complex backup and storage issues in collaboration with system and network teams.

• Participate in on-call rotation to address critical incidents outside regular business hours.

• Assist in developing and executing data migration plans, including those related to mergers and acquisitions.

• Support migrations across diverse storage platforms such as Windows, Nasuni, Synology, and Netgear.

• Review migration plans with stakeholders and validate successful post-migration outcomes.

Requirements
Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, or Dell) are a plus.

• 7-12 years of hands-on experience in storage administration, with a focus on enterprise environments.

• Proven experience with Nasuni appliances, including configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.

• Strong knowledge of DFS, NTFS permissions, and group-based access control implementation and auditing.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash for automation and operational efficiency.

• Experience with Group Policy Objects (GPO) and Microsoft Intune for centralized drive mapping and device management.

• Solid understanding of SharePoint Online and Azure Storage, including replication, security, and lifecycle policies.

• Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and its integration into engineering and design workflows.

• Demonstrated ability to manage data retention, compliance, and security policies in regulated environments.

• Experience in troubleshooting complex storage and backup issues, including root cause analysis.

• Strong collaboration skills with system administrators, network engineers, and application teams.

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations for critical incident response.

• Experience in data migration projects, including planning, execution, and validation phases.

• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail in maintaining procedural and compliance records.
