The Disbursement Analyst supports U.S.-based banking operations by managing daily Positive Pay activities to detect and prevent check fraud ensuring the integrity of Cigna's check disbursement records. This role ensures timely and accurate submission of issued check files to U.S. financial institutions, daily exception review and resolution, and strong collaboration with internal U.S. teams. In addition, this role supports CITI World Link payment inquiries ensuring requests are handled accurately and timely. The position requires alignment with U.S. business hours and adherence to internal controls and bank deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and review daily exception items (e.g., paid without issue, paid mismatch checks, and suspected fraud) to make appropriate payment decisions (return or pay) in coordination with the U.S. deadlines.
Partner with Treasury Data & Tech Enablement and Operations teams as well as Banking contacts to resolve discrepancies and verify payment details.
Escalate urgent exceptions (e.g., missing issue files or fraud trends) to U.S. stakeholders promptly to avoid payment delays or fraud exposure.
Supervise Positive Pay daily operations to minimize fraud exposure including monitoring transmissions, resolving exceptions, and escalating trends as needed.
Prepare required accounting entries for the daily positive pay exception items as needed.
Maintain accurate records of manual submissions, decisions, and correspondence for audit and internal control purposes.
Supports audit requests as requested by gathering the required information.
Assist in documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and identifying opportunities for process improvement or automation.
Provide reporting support related to exception trends, fraud monitoring, and reconciliation status.
Coordinate with Treasury Data & Tech Enablement and Operations teams to resolve file transmission errors and missing issue files.
Monitor shared mailboxes and manage workflow queues to ensure responses and actions are completed within established timelines.
Support the Salesforce Treasury queue for CITI WorldLink payments (checks, ACHS, wires and SEPA), CITI ASO checks and CEPP domestic EFT payments inquiries processed in Diamond; high-level daily actions include -
+ Sorting the Treasury queue.
+ Retrieving and providing paid check images for the ASO checks in CITIDirect Portal.
+ Placing stop payments on ASO checks and WL Checks in CITIDirect Portal.
+ Placing stop payments on McKinsey ASO checks in JPM portal.
+ Investigate payments for ACHS, wires and SEPA payments providing proof of payment and/or bank confirmations.
+ Process recall of payment for ACHS, wires and SEPA payments. Assigned bank reconciliation items are researched and cleared prior to the accounting close.
Provide status updates and issue escalations to the U.S.-based Treasury Manager as appropriate.
Confirm User bank portal access and functionality as check disbursement bank accounts are opened.
Align with U.S. time zones (typically EST/EDT) to meet daily cutoff times and ensure timely decision-making.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
At least 1 - 3 years of experience in banking operations or Treasury.
Familiarity with Positive Pay systems and U.S. banking platforms (e.g., Bank of America CashPro, Fifth Third Bank portal, Bank of New York portal, CitiDirect Treasury Portal, JPMorgan Access, and Wells Fargo).
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively collaborate with U.S.-based teams and financial institutions.
Comfortable working with banking portals and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Treasury applications Reval/CEPP/CDDP).
Ability to meet strict deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information.
High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment with problem solving mindset.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience supporting U.S. financial operations from an offshore location.
Understanding of fraud mitigation practices, exception handling, and U.S. banking regulations.
Flexibility to work partial U.S. business hours and US holidays.
Experience with workflow platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Salesforce) is a plus.
Experience in U.S. bank portals such as Bank of America CashPro, Bank of New York portal, Fifth Third Bank portal, CitiDirect Treasury Portal, JPMorgan Access, Wells Fargo CEO, or similar platforms.
