Job Description

A Higher Secondary English Teacher's job involves developing engaging lesson plans for literature, grammar, and writing, fostering critical thinking, assessing student progress through various methods, managing classrooms, collaborating with parents and staff, and preparing students for advanced exams, all while creating a supportive, technology-integrated learning environment. Key duties include teaching analytical skills, providing constructive feedback, incorporating modern teaching techniques, and promoting high standards in language use for students in upper grades. Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction:

Develop and deliver creative, standards-aligned lesson plans for English language, literature, and composition.

Student Engagement:

Facilitate high-level discussions, encourage self-directed learning, and use interactive activities to enhance language skills.

Assessment:

Evaluate student performance via tests, essays, projects, and provide constructive, personalized feedback.

Classroom Management:

Maintain an orderly, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes good behavior and organization.

Student Support:

Offer individual guidance, support struggling learners, and help develop critical thinking and analytical abilities.

Technology Integration:

Incorporate educational technology and software to enrich lessons.

Collaboration:

Liaise with parents, other teachers, and support staff regarding student progress and needs.

Professional Development:

Stay current with educational research, new methods, and participate in meetings and training.
Essential Skills & Qualifications

Strong command of English language, literature, and grammar. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Passion for teaching, student development, and adaptability. Ability to design innovative, differentiated instruction. Often requires a Master's degree in English/Education and relevant teaching certification (like B.Ed).
