Job Summary:
An HGV Light Vehicle Driver needs to have a mix of technical knowledge, driving skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. They play a vital role in ensuring that live broadcasts are executed smoothly and successfully.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
Before Project
Performing basic maintenance and checks on the OB truck to ensure it is roadworthy and the broadcast equipment inside is secure and functioning properly.
Working closely with the broadcast team, including producers, directors, camera operators, and engineers. The driver often follows specific instructions for equipment placement and setup to meet the production requirements.
Managing logistics, such as planning the most efficient routes to the location, ensuring timely arrival, and coordinating with event organizers and local authorities for permissions and access.
Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations related to both driving and broadcast operations. Ensuring that the truck and its operation comply with legal and industry standards.
During Project
Safely driving the OB truck to various locations, which can range from sports events and concerts to news coverage and other live events. This often involves long hours and sometimes driving in challenging conditions.
Assisting in the setup of broadcast equipment upon arrival at the location. This includes unloading and setting up cameras, audio equipment, satellite dishes, and other necessary gear for the live broadcast.
Providing technical support to the broadcast engineers and crew. This might involve running cables, connecting equipment, and troubleshooting any issues that arise to ensure a smooth broadcast.
Monitoring the equipment during the broadcast and making adjustments as needed. This includes ensuring that the broadcast feed is stable and of high quality.
After The Project
Assisting with the teardown and packing up of equipment after the event, ensuring everything is safely stored and ready for transport to the next location or back to the base.
Requirements:
Minimally 5 years of OB Truck driving experience
Able to converse in either Urdu, Hindi or Arabic.
Hold a Heavy Truck driver's licence and have driven extensively throughout Middle East and Gulf.
Be technically/mechanically inclined, and able to recognise, assemble and set up all OB equipment.
Be physically strong and have stamina.
Know how to rig and mount all OB equipment, both camera- and sound-related, monitors.
Crossing border experience and logistics experience
