ABOUT POLAR FIELD SERVICES, INC.
We are a rare company. Since 1999, we\'ve been taking our clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there. We haven\'t been everywhere. Just a lot of places most people haven\'t. Our team is made up of skilled people who are passionate about supporting cutting-edge science and making a difference in our world. As thanks for their courage and hard work, we offer excellent compensation and outstanding benefits. We take our jobs seriously, but our company culture is relaxed, dog-friendly, and casually dressed. We are looking to add more adventurous souls to our team!
DOES THIS JOB SOUND EXCITING?
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Arctic Facility Maintenance Tech, your team relies on you to keep vehicles and equipment running smoothly. This isn\'t a typical mechanic job-you work out in the field, at a remote Arctic research station. Luckily, you\'re a clever problem-solver who resolves challenges with inventive solutions. A skilled and experienced technician, you can fix just about anything with a motor: snowmobiles, power generation equipment, and Tucker and Caterpillar vehicles. Using computerized diagnostic software, you inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the machines that our team relies on. You also perform fueling operations for our station and the Air National Guard. A jack-of-all-trades, you monitor and maintain facilities at the research station. You capably handle minor electrical, plumbing, and heating issues onsite. When a storm hits and the power goes out, you\'re the hero who gets our facilities up and running again. You know you have a lot of people counting on you, so you\'re thorough and attentive to detail while compiling inventory records and submitting resupply requests. The entire crew appreciates your easygoing nature and positive attitude as you live and work together in close quarters. This job isn\'t the easiest you\'ve had-the days are long, the weather is extreme, and the amenities aren\'t exactly 5-star. But you\'re so glad you seized this lucrative opportunity to have the adventure of a lifetime, and you\'d do it again in a heartbeat!
