Position: Heavy Civil Estimator - Infrastructure & Siteworks
Location: Remote (US Shift)
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
Role Summary
We're hiring a seasoned Heavy Civil Estimator to lead cost modeling and bid development for complex infrastructure and site development projects across the United States. This remote role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in civil estimating--especially in stormwater systems, mass grading, and underground utilities. You'll be instrumental in shaping competitive proposals, validating constructability, and driving precision in preconstruction planning.
Core Responsibilities
Bid Strategy & Scope Alignment
Develop and review comprehensive bid packages, including subcontractor scopes and vendor pricing
Ensure all submissions meet technical, commercial, and competitive benchmarks
Quantity Take-Offs & Earthwork Modeling
Execute detailed take-offs from civil drawings: grading, drainage, utilities, demolition, and site improvements
Generate cut/fill maps and validate earthwork volumes using topographic data and CAD overlays
Example: Derive storm drain quantities from engineered grading plans and reconcile with survey contours
Estimating Tools & Cost Systems
Operate advanced estimating platforms (e.g., HeavyBid, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) for take-offs and cost analysis
Maintain dynamic cost databases for labor, equipment, and materials across regions
Survey Interpretation & Constructability Review
Analyze topographic surveys to assess elevation changes, slope constraints, and grading feasibility
Integrate survey data into estimating workflows to identify constructability risks and optimize site balance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to align estimates with design intent and execution strategy
Engage subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive, scope-aligned pricing
US Market Expertise
Interpret US construction documents, codes, and specifications with precision
Deliver estimates tailored to US infrastructure standards--stormwater systems, grading, utilities, and siteworks
Reporting & Historical Benchmarking
Prepare detailed estimate summaries, variance reports, and supporting documentation for internal and client review
Maintain historical cost data to inform future bids and improve pricing accuracy
