Healthcare Integration Engineer

Job Description

Key Duties & Responsibilities:


Interface Design & Development
- Design, develop, test, and deploy interfaces using HL7, DICOM, and other healthcare messaging
standards.
- Configure and manage integration engines (primarily Mirth Connect and Rhapsody) to facilitate data
flow between systems.
- Build real-time and batch integrations for systems such as EMR, RIS, PACS, LIS, and Pathology
platforms.
Project Implementation & Support
- Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and clinical stakeholders to gather integration
requirements.
- Participate in integration testing and validation for new implementations and upgrades.
- Provide go-live and post-deployment support for clinical systems integrations.
Maintenance & Monitoring
- Proactively monitor interfaces for data integrity, performance, and error handling.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to interface workflows, message parsing, and system
connectivity.
- Maintain technical documentation and change logs for interfaces and workflows.
- Oncall responsibilities.
Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with clinicians, IT staff, vendors, and technical leads to understand workflow and
integration needs.
- Train internal teams on integration functionality and updates.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent
experience).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in systems integration within a healthcare environment.
- Strong experience with HL7 v2/v3, DICOM, and FHIR (preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Mirth Connect and/or Rhapsody Interface Engine.
- Integration experience with EMR, RIS, PACS, or Pathology systems.
- Experience with API-based integrations (RESTful/JSON, SOAP).
- Solid understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical terminologies.
- Proficiency in scripting (JavaScript, Python, or similar) for custom transformations within interfaces.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Australian healthcare IT landscape and standards (e.g., My Health Record, Secure
Messaging).
- Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms or hybrid environments.
- Understanding of clinical data privacy, security, and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, Australian Privacy
Principles).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?100,000.00 - ?200,000.00 per month
