The Occupational Health & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment, preventing workplace accidents, and maintaining safety documentation in accordance with the Factories Act, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Statutory Requirements
Ensure compliance with
Factories Act, OSHA, and other statutory safety regulations
.
Maintain all statutory safety records and registers as required by law.
Liaise with
government authorities
during inspections and ensure timely compliance.
Workplace Safety Monitoring
Conduct
daily safety rounds
in production, warehouse, and utility areas to identify hazards.
Monitor proper
use of PPE
by employees and contractors.
Ensure
firefighting equipment, alarms, and emergency exits
are functional and regularly inspected.
Training & Awareness
Organize
safety induction training
for new employees and contractors.
Conduct
periodic safety drills
such as fire, evacuation, and first aid.
Promote safety awareness through
posters, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns
.
Incident Management
Record and investigate
accidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts
.
Recommend
corrective and preventive actions
and ensure implementation.
Maintain accident statistics and perform
trend analysis
.
Reporting & Audits
Maintain accurate
safety registers and statutory records
.
Prepare
daily, weekly, and monthly safety performance reports
.
Support
internal and external audits
for safety compliance and certifications.

Qualifications
Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety / Industrial Safety / Engineering
Knowledge of Factories Act, OSHA & industrial safety standards.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of workplace safety standards
Excellent observation and reporting skills
Good communication and training ability
Ability to respond effectively during emergencies
