Job Description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables



As the Head of Validation, Homologation & Proto at Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our vehicle systems meet uncompromising quality standards. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including:
Defining, developing, and implementing comprehensive validation strategies for both vehicle systems and mechanical components, guaranteeing adherence to product development timelines and fulfilling customer requirements. Providing visionary oversight for the validation processes of electrical and electronic systems, particularly focusing on Electric Powertrain, advanced vehicle electronics, and software integration. Designing and executing testing protocols that ensure durability, performance, and reliability, thereby guaranteeing our products can withstand real-world challenges. Acting as the primary technical authority, reviewing validation results, and devising innovative solutions to complex design and engineering challenges. Spearheading prototyping activities for innovative vehicles and powertrain systems, fostering a culture of innovation within the methodologies to speed up time-to-market while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, performance, and reliability. Ensuring all product designs comply with the latest industry standards in safety, performance, and reliability while facilitating the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies. Developing and implementing strict testing frameworks to uncover vulnerabilities and promote proactive corrective actions. Overseeing homologation and certification activities, ensuring conformity with both regional and international regulations. Acting as the main liaison with certification authorities and regulatory bodies to secure timely approvals that support our product launch schedules. Keeping abreast of evolving regulatory frameworks and integrating these requirements into our validation and development processes. Managing and optimising internal and external test facilities to uphold world-class validation operations. Ensuring the provision of state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and infrastructures to meet testing demands effectively. Promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and operational excellence throughout all testing environments.

Experience



The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following experience:
Demonstrated expertise in vehicle systems validation, with a strong background in testing methodologies for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. Proven track record of acting in a leadership role within product development or validation teams, guiding cross-functional teams towards success. A comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements affecting the automotive industry, showcasing the ability to navigate complex compliance landscapes. Experience in liaising with external certification bodies and regulatory agencies, ensuring adherence to compliance timelines and requirements. Proficient project management abilities, including the oversight of testing schedules, resource allocation, and budget management, demonstrating clear organizational skills. Skilled in the application of modern tools and techniques in validation and testing, with a focus on innovation and improvement.

Industry Preferred



Preferably, candidates from the following industries will be considered:
Automotive industry, with an emphasis on electric vehicles, smart mobility solutions, and advanced powertrain systems. Aerospace engineering, covering safety-critical systems and innovative technologies. Electronics manufacturing, particularly those with experience in automotive electronics or embedded software systems. Quality assurance or validation in heavy machinery or transportation sectors. Consultancies focusing on regulatory compliance in technology-driven industries.

Qualifications



Qualifications for this pivotal role include:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering; further qualifications such as a Master's or relevant certifications (like Six Sigma or project management) are advantageous. A minimum of 10 years in a relevant field with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, significantly within vehicle validation or homologation roles. In-depth knowledge of validation processes and methodologies, coupled with understanding the current technologies and trends in electric mobility. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage with regulatory authorities.
