Role Overview
The Head Technology & Industrial Design will lead technology-driven innovation, product design, and development of special-purpose machines, playing a critical role in translating ideas into commercially viable products and solutions. The role combines industrial design, engineering, R&D, and business thinking, driving innovation across multiple product categories and manufacturing platforms. Key Responsibilities Technology & Innovation Leadership
Lead the technology and industrial design function, driving innovation across existing and new product categories.
Conceptualize and develop new product platforms, design-led solutions, and special-purpose machines (SPMs).
Own the end-to-end design-to-development lifecycle - from ideation, sketching, prototyping, and engineering to commercialization. Product Design & Development
Drive industrial design, product aesthetics, ergonomics, and functional engineering.
Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and business teams to ensure designs are scalable, cost-effective, and market-relevant.
Support development of new business categories through design thinking and structured problem-solving. Special Purpose Machines & Automation
Lead design and development of SPMs, process equipment, and automation solutions to support manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and innovation.
Work closely with plant and engineering teams to ensure robust, safe, and optimized machine designs. Cross-Functional & Commercial Alignment
Act as a strong interface between design, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
Bring a commercial lens to design and technology decisions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Support leadership in evaluating new technologies, materials, and processes. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing design and technology team.
Create a culture of structured creativity, innovation discipline, and continuous improvement.
Establish best practices, frameworks, and systems for design governance and execution. Key Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in Industrial Design, Product Development, and Design Engineering.
Hands-on experience in SPM design, machine development, and manufacturing-linked innovation.
Ability to blend creative thinking with engineering rigor and business understanding.
Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strategic mindset with execution focus. Education & Experience
M.Des in Industrial Design from a premier institute (preferred).
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
18+ years of experience across industrial design, product development, and technology leadership.
Prior exposure to consumer products, industrial products, manufacturing environments, or engineering-led organizations is highly desirable.
