The Role Responsibilities

Strategy

The role holder is expected to

  • Demonstrate leadership by designing and maintaining a smoothly functional and well controlled Wealth Operations model which is in alignment to WM India Business growth and strategy.
  • Have broad awareness and understanding of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.
  • Continuously work towards Identification of opportunities for operational efficiencies thus leading to the achievement of desired outcomes of the Business Budget.
Business
  • Responsible for overall functioning and supervision of the Wealth Operations Department which involves the following activities
  • Investment client onboarding
  • Transaction processing i.e., client insurance proposals and investments applications ( Mutual Funds, PMS , AIF, Bonds and CFDs,
  • Wealth lending client onboarding and account maintenance (FAS and Exchequer product )
  • Post sales account management
  • Ensuring audit readiness at all times, fronting and completion of all audit actionable pertaining to Operations. Ensure satisfactory and acceptable audit outcomes for Regulatory and Group Internal Audits.
  • Identifying the system requirements of new wealth management products developments, testing and systems enhancements on a timely basis.
  • Manpower Planning and staff development.
  • Review the Standard Operating Procedures for operational activities.
  • Monitor and review the operational process for WM Operations.
  • UAT testing for systems, projects and migrations.
  • Good knowledge and handling Financial and Group, Exchange Audits and Regulatory compliance.
  • Automation of back-office processes through utilities / RPAs.
Processes
  • Lead change management - drive digitisation and innovation leading to cost efficiency.
  • Govern end to end management of processes i.e., Investment account set up, transactions execution and post sales service / account management for WM Products Operations.
  • Strongly advocate client centric process developments / improvements on a continuous basis.
People and Talent
  • Actively lead engagements with stakeholders, help build consensus on issues and get the desired outcomes in a time bound manner.
  • Manage WM Operations team effectively and ensure unit operates at optimum productivity.
  • Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values.
  • Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Institute ongoing training to develop people to ensure that operations staff are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles.
  • Implement cross training plan to develop / cross train staff and enable fungibility of resources across units to tide over skew cycles and thus optimise productivity.
  • Ensure that team has effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
  • Review team structure are regular frequencies.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
Risk Management
  • Manage service delivery in a fast-paced environment while ensuring that controls are not compromised by ensuring that the control framework is well embedded in the Operating model.
  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Effective Third-party risk management / Outsourcing governance.
  • Knowledge of relevant Regulations and ensure timely roll outs of Regulatory changes.
  • Knowledge of relevant SCB Group Policies, ensure appropriate gap assessments for new roll outs and timely adherence to roll outs / changes.
  • Awareness and understanding of the risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.
Governance
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering \xe2\x80\x98effective governance\xe2\x80\x99; capability to challenge colleagues effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
  • Govern Operations KPIs and KRIs on a consistent basis and take appropriate actions on emerging trends.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the Wealth Operations team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment].
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • MBA / Graduate in Commerce or above with 10 years of relevant experience in managing Banking Operations.
  • Good communication skill.
