The Head of Sales will lead all sales and business development efforts. This person will be responsible for building, managing, and scaling the sales organization, establishing go-to-market strategies, achieving revenue targets, and nurturing relationships with existing and new customers in relevant industrial/manufacturing sectors. This role requires strategic thinking, deep industry understanding, excellent leadership skills, and hands-on execution ability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute sales strategy aligned with company vision, product roadmap, and target markets (technical textiles, FIBC, roll inspection, etc.).
Build, lead, mentor, and scale the sales team (inside sales, field sales, business development managers).
Set and monitor sales targets / KPIs (revenue, new client acquisition, pipeline growth, conversion rates, territory - wise targets).
Identify, pursue, and close business opportunities domestically (across India) and possibly export markets.
Foster and maintain relationships with key customers, OEMs, distributors, partners, and industry stakeholders.
Collaborate with marketing, product, engineering and support teams for feedback to refine product, pricing, positioning, and demo capability.
Oversee the sales process: lead generation, qualification, proposal, negotiation, contract closure.
Manage sales forecasting, budgeting, reporting. Provide accurate periodic forecasts to leadership.
Establish and optimize sales operations: CRM usage, sales tools, process workflows, documentation.
Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, customer requirements, and emerging technologies in machine vision / AI / automation.
Drive customer feedback loops; ensure that learnings from sales interactions inform product improvements, service enhancements, and overall customer experience.
Requirements
Must-Haves
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. MBA or equivalent is a plus.
6-10+ years of sales experience, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership / head of sales / senior BD role.
Proven track record of achieving (and exceeding) revenue targets in B2B, ideally in industrial automation, manufacturing technologies, machine vision, or adjacent fields.
Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Strategic thinker, but with strong execution orientation. Ability to get into the weeds when required.
Experienced in using CRM tools, analyzing sales metrics, sales forecasting, pipeline management.
Ability to travel as needed (to meet clients, visit plants, lead field teams).
Preferred
Experience working in a scale-up environment: ability to build processes, hire, define roles, scale teams.
