Your Role: This is a leadership position in the R&D organization charged with building and leading an engaged chemistry department that is focused on the development of innovative technologies and products for small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, antibody drug conjugates, and mRNA therapies. Essential Job Functions: Build and lead an engaged team of synthetic, process, and analytical chemists Guide a department responsible for developing and launching new products Establish internal and external presence as expert in ADC, mRNA, and targeted protein degradation Develop plans for introduction of API and mRNA products through Merck's product development process Facilitate laboratory expansion as needed to meet project needs Prepare, propose, and manage department budget Provide qualified technical guidance to junior staff members Demonstrate clear initiative, risk-taking, and creativity Mentor and develop Associate Director, Manager, Scientist, Associate Scientist, and Assistant Scientist level chemists via direct and indirect reporting relationships Interact well with other functions units (Marketing, Commercial, Process Development, Analytical Development, Technical Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs, and Integrated Supply Chain Operations) to advance program and department objectives Propose and champion the implementation of new technologies at the Jigani site Achieve positive laboratory results through the efforts of others Work in accordance with corporate policies and regulatory agency guidelines Who You Are: Ph.D in Organic Chemistry Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.
