The Head of Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of all operational functions, including Production Control, Purchasing, Materials, Quality, Facility Maintenance, and Aftermarket. This role ensures operational excellence, compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, and achievement of company goals through effective oversight of subordinate managers. While the HSE Manager reports directly to the General Manager, the Head of Operations plays a critical role in fostering a safe work environment and ensuring all employees adhere to safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Management
Direct, coordinate, and evaluate subordinate managers overseeing key operational functions.
Lead, develop, and coach managers and teams to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety/environmental programs, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Operational Oversight
Plan, assign, and supervise work across all operational departments to ensure efficient production, quality standards, and on-time delivery.
Review production orders, schedules, and reports to optimize operations and resolve issues to minimize costs and prevent delays.
Oversee inventory management, materials requisition, purchasing, and warehouse operations to support production and sales demands.
Ensure proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Quality & Compliance
Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Management Systems in compliance with ISO/API and customer requirements.
Coordinate and facilitate internal, external, customer, supplier, and registrar audits.
Interface with customers, suppliers, and auditors as required.
Safety
Promote a culture of safety and ensure all employees work safely, in close collaboration with the HSE Manager.
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures throughout operational areas.
Continuous Improvement
Analyze processes and implement recommendations for operational improvements.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality throughout all operational areas.
Budget & Resource Management
Develop and manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and justify investments in equipment and facility improvements.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Participate in strategic planning and cross-functional meetings.
Resolve employee grievances and support team development.
Ensure proper maintenance and disposal of equipment and hazardous materials.
Perform other duties as assigned by executive leadership.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; or 10+ years of relevant experience in operations leadership.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, materials management, or quality management.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory management, quality systems (ISO/API), and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MRP/ERP systems.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, climbing, and reaching.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; occasional moderate lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
