What will you contribute?
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer- This Role

  • The Head of Product Engineering will lead the product roadmap delivery and the modernization of the Lending products including the transformation of engineering practices, systems and infrastructure.
  • This role will be responsible for setting and executing a clear strategy to build innovative SaaS product solutions and modernize legacy systems, implement cutting-edge technologies, and foster an engineering culture that supports Finastra's growth and vision to be the partner of choice for mission critical financial software.
  • This role is responsible for overseeing a large, geographically distributed engineering teams, driving the build and delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative SaaS products deployed on prem and in the cloud. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a passion for building world-class SaaS financial software.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
  • Drive innovation, scalability, and reliability in a fast-paced, high compliance SaaS environment.
  • Ensure that engineering teams are delivering high-quality code aligning tightly with Finastra's modernization goals, strategic goals around customer centricity, security and rapid market responsiveness (with improved say-do ratio).
  • Given the regulatory complexities, security imperatives and demands, establish engineering best practices, foster cross-functional collaboration, and continuously evolve the product architecture to meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Guide the architectural vision and technical roadmap to eliminate technical debt and build scalable multi-tenant SaaS platforms, ensuring quality, performance, uptime, and extensibility.
  • Lead secure development lifecycle practices and embed compliance into the engineering culture.
  • Attract, retain and develop high performing engineering talent
  • Ensure rapid, iterative delivery with a focus on quality, uptime, and performance, leveraging Agile and DevOps practices
  • Lead the effort to modernize legacy applications. Align with the Finastra strategy to accelerate modernization, collaborate with partners and drive the opportunities to migrate to more scalable, cloud-based, or microservices architectures that improve performance, reduce costs, and increase flexibility.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies (e.g., containerization, AI/ML, serverless, cloud-native frameworks) and evaluate their potential for adoption within the Lending business unit's technology stack.
  • Drive architectural changes that promote scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Develop and implement a clear roadmap for cloud migration, microservices adoption, and other modernization efforts.
  • Champion modern software development practices such as DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and agile methodologies. Ensure that these practices are consistently followed to deliver faster, high-quality products.
  • Leverage modern data analytics tools to gather insights on engineering productivity, system performance, and operational efficiency. Use this data to continuously improve engineering workflows.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the engineering department, encouraging experimentation, learning, and the rapid adoption of new technologies and tools.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to engineers, guiding them through the adoption of modern technologies and methodologies. Build a team with the skills needed to execute on the modernization strategy.
  • Ensure that the team's skill set evolves with the demands of modernization. Attract and recruit talent with expertise in cloud architectures, modern programming languages, and new technologies.
  • Work closely with product management, design, sales and services teams to ensure that the modernization strategy aligns with the overall product roadmap and business goals
Required Experience:
  • 10+ years in engineering with a strong focus on driving modernization efforts. At least 3-5 years in a senior leadership or VP role overseeing large-scale transformations.
  • Deep expertise in modernizing legacy systems, migrating to cloud environments, and implementing microservices architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams through significant technological transitions, including cloud adoption, containerization, and continuous integration/deployment practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of modern engineering practices, cloud platforms (Azure primarily), microservices, DevOps, and modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, JavaScript).
  • Ability to drive the technical strategy while keeping a keen focus on business outcomes. Experience aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.Experience working with the following teams:
  • Ability to see the future landscape of technology and create a roadmap for the company's modernization and innovation journey.
  • Strong ability to identify areas for improvement and introduce creative, scalable solutions and processes.
  • Ability to pivot quickly in the face of new priorities, technologies, market changes, or business needs.
  • Ability to work closely with senior leadership, product teams, clients, and other departments to align on development and modernization efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on leading change, managing stress, and fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
