Role Overview

The

Head of Engineering / Tech Lead

is the

technical owner

of ZELMU's platform.

This role is

hands-on

.
You will design architecture, write critical code, review everything, and lead a

small senior team (6-8 engineers)

.

This is not a people-heavy management role. This is a builder-leader role.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Ownership

Design and own the

end-to-end system architecture

Ensure scalability, security, and reliability Own technical decisions and trade-offs
Hands-On Development

Write and review core platform code Lead backend and API development Guide Flutter-based cross-platform apps
Team Leadership (Lean)

Lead a senior engineering team: Flutter Lead Backend Engineers Data / AI Engineers Enforce high code quality and documentation No micromanagement - ownership culture
Data & Intelligence

Build data pipelines for: Rankings Performance analytics Simulation / prediction Ensure data integrity and auditability
Security & Reliability

Own: Cloud infrastructure CI/CD pipelines Security best practices Ensure platform readiness for scale and scrutiny

Ideal Candidate Profile

10-14 years of software engineering experience Strong backend experience (Node.js / Java / Python) Experience designing scalable systems Hands-on leadership background Experience working with mobile or cross-platform apps Comfort working with small, high-ownership teams
Not a Fit If

You are purely a people manager You haven't coded hands-on in recent years You prefer large teams and heavy process You rely heavily on outsourcing core development

Tech Stack (Indicative)

Backend: Node.js / Python / Java Frontend / App: Flutter Cloud: AWS / GCP Databases: PostgreSQL, NoSQL CI/CD, security best practices AI-assisted development tools (Cursor AI)

Success Metrics (First 90 Days)

Platform architecture finalized and documented Core OS modules live or in advanced build Engineering team aligned and shipping weekly No dependency on external dev agencies Clean handoff points with data, hardware, and authority teams

Pay: ₹150,000.00 - ₹250,000.00 per month

Have you personally written production code in the last 12 months? Which best describes your current or most recent role? Have you designed and owned the architecture of a scalable system used by external users? What size engineering teams have you directly led? Have you worked with mobile or cross-platform applications (Flutter, React Native, Android/iOS)? Which backend technologies have you worked with extensively? Have you built or owned data pipelines, analytics systems, or ranking/analytics logic? Have you been responsible for production security, uptime, and incident handling? This role requires building core systems in-house without relying on dev agencies. Are you comfortable with this approach?
