Job Description






Job Purpose To strengthen the development of our worldwide hydrogen activities, John Cockerill is setting up the Hydrogen business in India. For this business, we are looking for The Head of Engineering who will be responsible for planning, leading, and providing support to Project Execution on key engineering that enables the achievement of operational excellence and support the growth objectives of the organization. Key Result Areas

  • Build a multi-disciplinary engineering team and set processes for the department.
  • Development and optimization of technical solutions for client requirements
  • Ensure timely completion of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the engineering department\xe2\x80\x99s strategic direction by setting long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department.
  • Develop strategic plans for the direction and control of project engineering.
  • Support proposal team with technical solutions based on client requirements.
  • Develop detailed engineering plans including milestones, timelines, corrective actions to problems or issues, anticipation of problems, and facilitation of scope management.
  • Communicate project direction, approach, priorities, and status to key stakeholders for all project engineering required for projects.
  • Ensure refinement and implementation of local designs as required by contractual requirements.
  • Should be able to manage the complete process of Engineering Change Management
  • Ensure that local design changes are focused on specific needs but with wider applications in mind while exceeding customer expectations.
  • Provide leadership, technical direction and guidance, and hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource / mentor.
  • Build strong working relationships across organizations \xe2\x80\x93 You will work with multiple stakeholders from sales, operations, technology, and Business Unit to understand priorities, define objectives and prioritize within the scope of the project/program/initiative, facilitate cross organizational communications, coordination, and transparency.
  • Achieve department objectives and project completion within budget and stipulated time frame while mitigating risks, managing issues; managing project scope and change effectively.
  • Be updated on current industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its technology leadership position.
  • Knowledge of International Standards such as ASME / EN/ DIN /JIS along with alternate materials

Education and Experience
  • Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, electro-mechanical engineer or chemical process engineer from a reputed university. Post-graduation will be an added advantage.
  • 15+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in large engineering/project/process/heavy engineering industry with an exposure to Multinational environment.
  • Basic idea of CAD \xe2\x80\x93 2D-AutoCAD, 3D Modelling, Caesar II (Pipe Stress Analysis)

Background, Skills, and Competencies
  • Should possess understanding of Product Design, New Process Development and Engineering Change Management, Computer aided Engineering.
  • Knowledge in industrial process and awareness of control systems
  • Knowledge of International Standards such as ASME / EN/ DIN /JIS along with alternate materials
  • Should have managed the complete process of Engineering Change Management
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven experience in managing diverse relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence \xe2\x80\x93 ability to motivate others.
  • Experience in power, oil & gas, chemical or heavy industry is an asset.
  • Should be a team player and capacity to work in a Matrix Structure.
  • Very good understanding of cultural differences in Europe, US and Indian management styles.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory and knowledge in French is an asset.
