We belong to the COWI's Infrastructure sector, specialising in the Tunnels and Underground Infrastructure. COWI's Tunnels and Underground Structures team in India is rapidly growing and to support the growth we are looking for a Civil Structures - Head of Section
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Act as a role model in the team in terms of values, culture and behaviour and set standards within the same
Lead the development and implementation of global best practices, standards, and design processes for structural engineering
Ensure that all structural designs adhere to applicable international codes (e.g., Eurocodes, ACI, BS, IS, AS) and company quality frameworks
Support design managers and project directors in ensuring delivery excellence across global projects
Provide expert technical guidance on complex and multidisciplinary projects across infrastructure sector
Oversee and endorse technical reviews, design verifications, and value engineering exercises
Interface with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, MEP, architectural, etc.) for seamless project integration
Collaborate with business leadership in pursuit planning, bids, and proposals, providing technical input and resource strategies
Champion in innovation, sustainability, and digital engineering (BIM, parametric modelling, automation, AI-assisted design)
Develop and spar with individual staff members on their professional and personal development leading to enhanced efficiencies
Handle project resource allocations, ensuring that the staff with relevant skills and proficiency are assigned
Handle all organisational and staff related matters for the team, including recruitment and performance management
In close collaboration with key stakeholders, develop the strategy for the competence development and growth of the team, tying into COWI's overall strategic ambitions
Drive lessons-learned and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and sustainability standards in design
Represent the discipline in internal and client reviews, technical forums, and conferences

Moreover, you will :
Hold a Masters's degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering
Chartered Engineer (CEng/PE/MIE or equivalent) preferred
Professional experience of more than 15 years in design and management of large, complex, multidisciplinary projects, internationally
Proven leadership experience in global design delivery or international consulting environments
Proficiency in major design and analysis tools (e.g., STAAD, SAP, etc.)
Deep understanding of BIM workflows and digital design platforms
Exposure to sustainable design, embodied carbon assessment, and advanced materials preferred
Have in-depth understanding of quality management systems
Have demonstrated experience of working in multi-cultural and multi-national team environment. Working experience within North America, Scandinavian or UK markets would be advantageous
Demonstrate impeccable English communication skills - verbal and written
Be self-driven and intrinsically motivated to make a positive difference for the team, COWI and self
