The DevOps Automation Engineering Lead\'s responsibility to ensure the tools and processes for all Data Platforms and applications/Services owned by GDT are efficient, compliant with SDLC process and adopt DevOps ways of working including tools, People and Culture. Driving best practices and Proactive partnership across all services lines of GDT. Managing a small automation team to maintain the suite of DevOps tools that are used within GDT and that could be used to driving higher level of deployment automation. The Opportunity: . The person in this role will be commercially astute, an excellent communicator and able to partner strongly with all stakeholders (GDT Exco members and their teams) as well as engineering teams. They will work with leaders across GDT to define technology strategies, create new & innovative solutions and drive a culture of continuous improvement.They will also be partnering with other DevOps and IT counterparts, of GBGFs to ensure re-use of effective solutions is happening in GDT and sharing our solutions to be reused in other GBGFs. . Lead the design, development, and implementation of SDLC tools & processes for all GDT platforms using products such as Git, Nexus, Jenkins, Ansible and a number of in-house platforms. . Develop & own the strategy for tools & processes in this domain, focused on their modernisation in response to a constantly evolving technology landscape . Develop, maintain & promote the use of automation to improve the efficiency and reliability of the SDLC processes. . Develop, maintain & promote SDLC best practices, from tools & processes to people & culture. . Driving improvements to automated deployment solutions and proactive monitoring across environments . Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in DevOps ways of working. . Working to instill a DevOps mentality and best practices throughout the development cycle . Participate in the evaluation and selection of new tools and technologies to improve the SDLC processes. . Work closely with Cyber teams to ensure that all security standards and protocols are adhered to throughout the SDLC processes. . Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. . Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SDLC processes. What you\'ll do: Leadership and Strategy Responsibilities . Lead the Core DevOps Services team to successful delivery of business outcomes. . Strong commercial awareness looking for ways to drive down RTB costs through automation, less TOIL and efficient use of Infrastructure. . Work with GDT Exco leaders to capture requirements, and work collaboratively to evaluate tools that best fit the individual groups. . Manage the associated budget, with ongoing focus on personnel, vendor, and capital expenditures. . Build strong working relationships with Product Lines and business leaders to ensure teams meet expectations and contribute to achievement of business goals. . Collaborate with GDT Exco business leaders to develop short- and long-term strategic plans, and provide vision for GDT. . Support and facilitate innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames. . Work with product management leadership to design, manage, and/or execute product roadmaps. Talent Management Responsibilities . Manage resource allocation across teams to maximize business impact of resources and ensure each team has the skills and capabilities needed to achieve its objectives. . Manage talent, playing a key role in performance management and compensation processes, role and competency definition, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. . Recruit and hire talent to address new needs and skill gaps. . Facilitate collaboration and partnership across teams and stakeholders. . Build a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness. . Manage employee engagement and promote a compelling employee value proposition to retain staff. Teamwork . Build and maintain the broad and diverse set of skills required to run the Core DevOps Services team . Provide strategic direction, leadership, support, guidance and management for the team . Functional leadership of IT managers and ensure best practices for team management . Strategic engagement with key 3rd parties and vendors to ensure a strong partnership is established for the strategic benefit of the Bank . Establish a robust communication and support mechanism across GDT . Ensure the necessary resources are sourced to support demand . Ensure there is a strong colleague development framework in place including succession planning, diversity balance, nurturing, coaching, skills development and career progression What you will need to succeed in the role . Proven industry experience of running a DevOps tooling team including processes, technologies, challenges, strategy . Expertise in Strategy, Business Planning, Governance and Stakeholder Management . Knowledge of technology and technology trends, and the ability to provide technology consultancy to senior leaders . Established industry relationships at key technology vendors . Experience in planning and managing significant expenditure in a complex organization . This role will operate in a global transformation capacity . This role will require an understanding of the breadth of business areas across the bank and relevant technology domains . The role will be responsible for developing thought leadership and best practice, including engagement with vendors / third parties . Ability to work across cultures and all locations in a complex, matrix organization Requirements Knowledge and Experience / Qualifications . Proven experience as a thought leader in DevOps in a technology organization. . Strong technical knowledge of relevant technologies and DevOps ways of working. . Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals. . Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. . Ability to analyze complex technical and business problems and develop effective solutions. . Able to manage a variety of senior stakeholder relationships and develop a trusting working relationship with them. . Demonstrable success in understanding and delivering towards customer needs in large, global, complex organisations. . Ability to work in an unstructured and changing environment. . Ability to influence teams to think \'outside\' the box and look at solutions / approaches outside traditional comfort zones. . Strong external vendor management skills. . Good business sense and commercial acumen. . Strong drive to get things done and work in an environment with many moving parts but still find a way forward. . Experience with DevOps tools & platforms, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of software components. . In-depth knowledge of SDLC tools such as Jenkins, Git, Ansible, and Docker. . Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. . Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
