Summary:
As the Head of Diamond Department, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of diamond and Gemstones Inventory, Issuing, processing, and quality control within our jewelry manufacturing factory. You will lead a team of skilled professionals to ensure the efficient operation of the diamond department and uphold our standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Diamond Procurement:
Sourcing from our BKC office and procure high-quality diamonds and gemstones as per our orders. And placing requirement to our diamond office weekly as per the current stock and sales projection.
Production Planning:
Collaborate with production and planning team for the pending orders and follow up with BKC office to send the delivery and to develop production schedules and ensure timely delivery of diamond and colour stones against the orders for jewelry manufacturing processes and achieve Production goal to reduce the cycle time.
Diamond Processing:
All incoming stock has to entered in the system as per the rates mentioned and make sure the same is been issued to shop floor.
Quality Control:
Establish and enforce rigorous quality control measures to uphold the company's reputation for excellence. Inspect diamonds at various stages of processing to identify defects and deviations from specifications.
Team Leadership:
Provide strong leadership and guidance to the diamond department team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Mentor team members to develop their skills and expertise.
Inventory Management:
Manage diamond inventory levels effectively, optimizing stock levels to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs and excess inventory. Reducing the hold time of any orders with available diamonds or colour stones keeping the stock level to bare minimum. All inventory should be entered in the EMR and DFE.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols governing diamond handling and processing. Implement measures to maintain a safe and secure working environment for employees.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the diamond department. Implement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance overall productivity. Work on system to maximise on Automation system which can reduce time and error.
What we are looking for (Skill sets)
Bachelor's degree or industry related course- Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the jewelry industry, with a focus on diamond procurement and processing.
In-depth knowledge of 4C's in diamond and gemstone.
Strong understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and managing the department.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
Proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Certification from recognized gemmological institutions (e.g., GIA, IGI) is a plus
