Identify and integrate cutting-edge AI advancements (foundation models, multimodal AI, edge-optimized inference, etc.) into our portable retinal imaging ecosystem
Stay ahead of industry trends and convert emerging technologies into compliant, scalable, market-leading features
2. End-to-End AI Development & Execution
Lead the full AI/ML lifecycle: data strategy & acquisition, model design, training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management
Build and advance state-of-the-art computer vision models (CNNs, Vision Transformers, GANs, self-supervised learning, segmentation, etc.) optimized for edge/offline use in medical devices
Drive production deployments in partnership with software engineering (web, desktop, mobile, cloud)
3. Regulatory, Quality & Compliance Leadership
Own the AI regulatory strategy and serve as the primary AI subject-matter expert for FDA, CE, and other global submissions/audits
Ensure complete traceability, design controls, post-market surveillance, model drift management, and compliance with FDA Good Machine Learning Practice, EU AI Act (high-risk systems), ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and ISO 27001
Lead preparation of robust technical documentation and performance evidence for successful regulatory approvals
4. Clinical Collaboration & Evidence Generation
Partner closely with clinical teams to design/execute AI validation studies, clinical performance evaluations, and real-world evidence generation
Guide data acquisition strategies to build diverse, high-quality, ethically sourced datasets for training, testing, and validation
Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, white papers, and scientific presentations
5. Team Leadership & Culture Building
Recruit, mentor, and grow a world-class AI/ML engineering team (expand capability from current size to best-in-class)
Cultivate a culture of scientific excellence, rapid iteration, accountability, and unwavering focus on patient impact
6. IP, Thought Leadership & External Impact
Proactively identify patentable innovations and drive the patent filing process
Strengthen Remidio's external credibility through publications, conference speaking, and collaborations with academia, clinicians, and industry leaders
Must-Have Qualifications & Experience
Proven track record in healthcare/medtech AI (ophthalmology, medical imaging, or diagnostics strongly preferred)
Deep expertise in Computer Vision for medical applications (mastery of CNNs, Vision Transformers, GANs, segmentation, classification, explainable AI)
Hands-on proficiency: Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, Pandas, scikit-learn, Azure ML (strongly preferred), Docker, REST APIs
Demonstrated success deploying AI in regulated medical devices (FDA 510(k), CE marking experience required)
Strong knowledge of FDA Good ML Practices, EU AI Act (high-risk AI requirements), data privacy (GDPR/HIPAA), and quality standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
Track record of patents, peer-reviewed publications, or technical leadership in AI/healthcare
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, founder-driven organization
Personal Attributes (Non-Negotiable)
Extreme ownership -- full accountability for outcomes, risks, and results
Bias for action in ambiguous, high-pressure situations; ability to juggle multiple complex initiatives without dropping quality
Outstanding influence without authority -- build strong alignment across clinical, regulatory, engineering, and executive stakeholders
Rapid, independent learner who masters new domains and technologies quickly
Comfortable thriving in a high-expectation, direct-feedback, senior-leadership environment
Genuine passion for leveraging AI to prevent blindness and advance health equity globally
If you are a proven AI leader who blends world-class technical depth, clinical/regulatory acumen, and the drive to create meaningful global impact -- we want to hear from you.
