Role Overview:
Saman Tea Private Limited is seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Chartered Accountant (CA) to lead our Accounts Department as the Head of Accounts. This is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support our continued growth and export leadership. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned finance professional with a proven track record of managing high-turnover export-oriented companies and leading large accounting teams. Preference will be given to candidates who also possess a Company Secretary (CS) qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement the overall accounting strategy and policies in alignment with the company's objectives and export focus.
2) Financial Accounting & Reporting: Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and other relevant regulations. Lead the finalization of annual accounts and statutory audits.
3) Taxation & Compliance: Ensure meticulous compliance with all direct and indirect tax laws, including Income Tax and Goods and Services Tax (GST). Manage tax planning, assessments, and filings.
4) Cost Accounting & Analysis: Implement and manage robust cost accounting systems to track and analyze production costs, providing insights for efficiency improvements and pricing strategies within the export context.
5) Management Information Systems (MIS): Design, develop, and generate timely and insightful MIS reports for management, providing critical data for decision-making, performance monitoring, and strategic planning.
6) Inventory Management: Oversee the accounting aspects of inventory management, ensuring accurate valuation, control, and reconciliation of tea stocks across various stages of processing and export.
7) Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and develop accurate financial forecasts to guide business planning and resource allocation.
8) Internal Controls: Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
9) Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Department team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
10) Stakeholder Management: Liaise effectively with external auditors, tax authorities, banks, and other financial institutions.
11) Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Mandatory:
Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with a strong academic background.
Preferred:
Additional qualification as a Company Secretary (CS).
Experience:
Minimum 15-20 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with significant experience working in export-oriented companies.
Leadership Experience:
Proven experience in heading the accounts department and managing large teams in high-turnover organizations.
Technical Proficiency:
In-depth knowledge of Income Tax laws and regulations.
Comprehensive understanding of Goods and Services Tax (GST) laws and procedures.
Extensive experience in the finalization of accounts and statutory audits.
Strong understanding and practical application of cost accounting principles and techniques.
Proven ability to develop and generate effective Management Information Systems (MIS) reports.
Sound knowledge of inventory handling and valuation methods.
