Job Purpose: The Mechanical Maintenance Head leads the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of all mechanical systems in the plant. This role focuses on strategic planning, safety compliance, plant performance, inventory management, and continuous improvement. By driving initiatives to enhance equipment availability and reduce costs, the role ensures alignment with the company's operational goals while fostering team development and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution:
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy for mechanical systems across all sections, ensuring alignment with the company's operational goals and production targets.
Plan and oversee the execution of improvement and modification projects aimed at reducing costs, enhancing productivity, and improving plant reliability.
Maintenance Management:
Ensure optimum maintenance of key mechanical systems including the Kiln, Cement Mills, Crusher & Raw Mill, and Packing Plant to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.
Oversee the implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including the development of schedules, monitoring of adherence, and continuous improvement of practices

Safety and Compliance:
Champion a safety-first culture within the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
Ensure 100% implementation of safety protocols, PPE usage, and the work permit system.
Plant Reliability & Performance:
Drive initiatives to improve the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTF) and Net Availability Index (NAI) of critical equipment such as Kilns and Cement Mills, setting targets above industry standards.
Monitor and optimize the performance of mechanical systems, implementing strategies to reduce energy consumption and improve the overall efficiency of the plant.
Inventory & Spare Parts Management:
Oversee the planning and optimization of spare parts inventory, ensuring availability while minimizing costs through effective inventory management practices.
Lead efforts to reduce obsolete inventory and improve the utilization of existing resources, with a focus on cost control and operational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department by implementing best practices, new technologies, and innovative maintenance techniques.
Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at reducing operational stoppages and enhancing plant performance.
Budget & Cost Management:
Manage the mechanical maintenance budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet both short-term operational needs and long-term capital investments.
Drive cost reduction initiatives in maintenance activities while maintaining or improving equipment reliability and plant performance.
Leadership & Team Development:
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the mechanical maintenance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Develop training and development programs to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of the maintenance staff, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company objectives.
Reporting & Documentation:
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of maintenance activities, including performance metrics, safety incidents, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, ensuring transparency and accountability within the department.
Corporate Governance:
Monitor adherence to corporate governance policies and procedures, ensuring that all operations and strategic decisions reflect the principles of integrity, accountability, and transparency.

Qualifications:
Education Qualification:
BE in Mechanical Engineering.
Work Experience:
15+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the cement or heavy manufacturing industry.
Industry Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices in cement manufacturing, with expertise in strategic planning, cost management, and safety compliance.
