Job Purpose: The Maintenance Head leads the Maintenance Department, driving strategic initiatives to ensure plant reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role focuses on implementing advanced digital technologies, optimizing inventory, and managing costs. It also ensures compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and fosters cross-functional collaboration while leading talent development and continuous improvement efforts to achieve long-term sustainability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Direction:
Lead the Maintenance Department in developing and executing strategic plans that align with the company's objectives, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in all maintenance operations.
Guide the Capex, Mechanical, Civil, and E&I teams in setting clear, measurable goals that drive plant performance improvements and support long-term sustainability.
Digital Transformation and Process Automation:
Spearhead the implementation of advanced automation and digital technologies in maintenance processes to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and enable predictive maintenance.
Oversee the integration of IoT, AI-driven analytics, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to optimize maintenance schedules and equipment uptime.
Inventory and Cost Management:
Implement advanced inventory management practices, utilizing data analytics to optimize stock levels, reduce holding costs, and eliminate obsolete items, particularly those held beyond three years.
Develop and enforce cost control measures, ensuring that maintenance expenses, including shutdowns, align with budgetary constraints while maximizing resource utilization.
Technical Excellence in Plant Performance:
Drive the execution of key strategic initiatives such as the commissioning of the WHRS (Waste Heat Recovery System) to increase power generation capacity and improve energy efficiency.
Oversee critical projects like the installation of modified gravel gates and chlorine gas by-pass systems, focusing on reducing equipment failures and improving plant reliability.
Compliance and Environmental Management:
Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to stringent environmental regulations, maintaining stack emissions within the legal compliance limit (30 mg per nm).
Lead initiatives for sustainable resource management, including projects like the Sugala mines water diversion, to enhance the plant's environmental footprint.
Safety and Risk Management:
Establish and maintain a robust safety culture within the Maintenance Department, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and the implementation of proactive risk management strategies.
Regularly review and update safety protocols, focusing on hazard identification, control measures, and continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Cross-Functional Coordination and Collaboration:
Facilitate seamless coordination between the Maintenance Department and other key functions, including production, quality, and procurement, to ensure alignment on maintenance priorities and resource allocation.
Engage with stakeholders across the plant to drive the execution of improvement projects, ensuring alignment with operational objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Champion a culture of innovation within the department, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and practices that enhance plant efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing equipment downtime, optimizing maintenance processes, and achieving significant cost savings.
Budgeting and Financial Stewardship:
Oversee the development and management of the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of plant reliability and performance.
Provide financial oversight on major projects, ensuring alignment with the company's financial goals and long-term sustainability.
Talent Development and Organizational Growth:
Drive talent development initiatives within the department, focusing on upskilling employees, enabling managers, and fostering a culture of recognition and continuous learning.
Implement programs that support leadership development and succession planning, ensuring the long-term growth and sustainability of the Maintenance Department.
Corporate Governance:
Monitor adherence to corporate governance policies and procedures, ensuring that all operations and strategic decisions reflect the principles of integrity, accountability, and transparency.

Qualifications:
Education Qualification:
BE in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
Work Experience:
20+ years of experience in plant maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale operations in the cement or related heavy manufacturing industry.
Industry Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of maintenance practices in cement manufacturing or similar industries, with strong expertise in modern maintenance technologies and project management.
