Business Coverage: Tiles, Marble & Mosaic | Pan-India Operations
Role Purpose
The Head - Logistics will own end-to-end logistics strategy and execution, ensuring cost efficiency, service reliability, and scalability across NITCO's Tiles, Marble, and Mosaic businesses. The role is responsible for translating logistics into a competitive advantage, not just a cost center.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Strategy & Business Alignment
Own logistics strategy aligned to business growth, channel expansion, and service SLAs
Build deep understanding of Tiles vs Marble logistics economics (weight, breakage, handling, lead time, margins)
Act as logistics partner to Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Plant Heads
Cost & Commercial Management
Drive freight cost optimization across primary, secondary, and inter-plant movements
Lead RFQs / RFPs for transporters, 3PLs, and warehousing partners
Track lane-wise cost, utilization, and savings with strong financial discipline
Operations & Service Excellence
Ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) deliveries across depots, dealers, and projects
Manage breakage, damages, transit losses, and claims with zero-leakage mindset
Drive standard operating procedures for loading, unloading, handling, and dispatch
Network, Warehouse & Distribution Management
Optimize warehouse and depot network for cost, service, and scalability
Improve turn-around time (TAT), vehicle utilization, and inventory flow
Partner with SCM to align logistics with production planning and demand cycles
Governance, Controls & Compliance
Ensure strong controls on freight billing, transporter reconciliation, and documentation
Drive statutory and safety compliance across logistics operations
Put visibility and accountability into logistics data and reporting
Team Leadership & Execution Discipline
Build, lead, and develop logistics and regional teams
Drive accountability through clear KPIs, dashboards, and reviews
Ensure execution focus, not just planning and vendor management
Must-Have Capabilities (Non-Negotiable)
Strong understanding of heavy / fragile product logistics
Proven experience in cost optimization and service improvement
High execution bias with on-ground problem-solving ability
Ability to challenge vendors and internal stakeholders with data
Should-Have Capabilities
Experience in manufacturing / building materials / FMCG logistics
Exposure to pan-India distribution and depot networks
Strong collaboration with Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain
Data-driven logistics management
Nice-to-Have
Experience with tiles, marble, cement, paints, or similar industries
Exposure to logistics digitization, TMS, or automation initiatives
Experience managing large transporter and 3PL ecosystems
Education & Experience
MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Logistics (preferred)
8-12 years of experience in logistics / distribution roles
