is responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all applicable labour laws, industrial relations regulations, and statutory requirements across all locations. This role involves developing and implementing compliance frameworks, managing audits, liaising with government authorities, and mitigating legal risks related to workforce and employment practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Statutory Compliance Management
Ensure compliance with all central and state labour laws, including Factories Act, Shops & Establishments Act, EPF, ESI, Minimum Wages, Bonus, Gratuity, CLRA, and other applicable legislations.
Develop and implement systems to track compliance status and statutory submissions across all units.
Ensure timely filing of returns, maintenance of registers, and renewal of licenses/approvals.
2. Audits & Inspections
Handle labour department inspections, show-cause notices, and compliance audits.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors for statutory compliance verification.
Prepare and present compliance status reports to senior management and board committees.
3. Vendor & Contractor Compliance
Monitor and audit compliance status of manpower contractors and service providers.
Ensure adherence to CLRA (Contract Labour Regulation & Abolition) Act and related rules.
Implement robust contractor compliance systems and maintain documentation.
4. Legal & Industrial Relations Support
Provide guidance on labour law implications of HR policies and employee relations.
Support management in handling disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and union matters (where applicable).
Keep management informed about legislative updates and their potential business impact.
5. Policy & Process Development
Formulate and update the organization's labour compliance policies and procedures.
Conduct training programs for HR, admin, and line managers on compliance awareness.
Drive digitization of compliance records and reporting systems.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Graduate in Law (LLB) / Master's in Labour Laws / MSW (HR & IR) / MBA (HR).
Experience:
10-20 years of relevant experience in statutory compliance, labour law management, or industrial relations.
Industry Preference:
Manufacturing, Construction, Infrastructure, FMCG, Retail, or Multi-plant operations.
Key Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of central and state labour legislations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with authorities.
Proficiency in compliance management tools and MS Office.
Integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
