Position Summary



The Head of Human Resources (HR Head) will be a strategic partner, responsible for leading and executing the companys entire Human Resources function. This role is critical for a construction company, focusing on maintaining a high-performance, safety-conscious, and compliant workforce across corporate offices, project sites, and factory environments in and around Chennai. The HR Head will drive cultural initiatives, talent management, industrial relations, and organizational effectiveness to support the company's aggressive growth goals.

Key Responsibilities



1. Strategic HR Leadership & Organizational Development

Strategy & Planning:

Develop and execute the annual HR plan and budget, aligning HR initiatives with the companys strategic business objectives (e.g., project deadlines, talent acquisition targets, safety compliance).

Organizational Design:

Lead organizational structuring, workforce planning, and change management efforts to optimize efficiency and scalability across project sites and corporate functions.

HR Metrics & Analytics:

Establish and monitor key HR performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the construction sector, such as attrition rates on site, productivity metrics, and safety training compliance.
2. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Recruitment Strategy:

Oversee and manage the end-to-end recruitment process for all levels--from site labor and technical staff (Engineers, Project Managers) to corporate executives.

Employer Branding:

Enhance the company's brand as an employer of choice in the construction industry within the Chennai region.

Onboarding:

Design and implement robust onboarding programs tailored to site-based roles (emphasizing safety and company protocols) and corporate positions.
3. Compensation, Benefits & Performance Management

Total Rewards:

Design, implement, and manage a competitive compensation and benefits structure, ensuring market parity and internal equity, especially for skilled construction trades.

Performance Management:

Drive a consistent performance appraisal system that includes goal setting, regular feedback, and linkage to rewards/promotions.

Statutory Compliance:

Ensure timely and accurate submission and compliance related to

PF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus Act, Factories Act, and Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act

relevant to construction sites and factory operations in Tamil Nadu.
4. Industrial Relations (IR) & Employee Relations (ER)

Labour Management:

Handle complex industrial relations, including managing contract labor agencies, union negotiations (if applicable), and ensuring harmonious relations at all project sites.

Grievance Handling:

Implement fair and consistent processes for managing employee grievances and disciplinary actions, with a strong focus on compliance and legal integrity.

Policy Development:

Develop, communicate, and enforce company HR policies and employee handbooks specific to the operational challenges of a construction environment.
5. Training & Development (L&D)

Skill Gap Analysis:

Identify critical skill gaps, particularly in safety, quality assurance, project management, and technology adoption within the workforce.

Program Implementation:

Oversee the development and delivery of mandatory safety training, technical skill enhancement, and leadership development programs.

Qualifications & Experience



Education:

Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field. A degree/diploma in Labor Law is highly desirable.

Experience:

Minimum of

12-15 years of progressive HR experience

, with at least

3-5 years in a senior leadership role (Head/VP)

.

Industry Focus:

Mandatory experience working in the Construction or Infrastructure

is required, with a strong understanding of site-based HR and Labor Law compliance in India, specifically Tamil Nadu.

Skills:

Proven expertise in Industrial Relations (IR) and handling large, geographically dispersed workforces (site staff vs. corporate staff). In-depth knowledge of Indian Labour Laws (including Contract Labour Act, Factories Act, and state-specific regulations). Strong business acumen and ability to translate construction objectives into HR priorities. Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Proficiency in HRIS/HRMS platforms.

Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
