About the role:
Are you a highly motivated candidate with strong experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and good understanding of Re/Insurance products? If yes, then come join us to be part of an excellent team within Swiss Re Reinsurance Finance FP&A. The Head of Financial Modelling is a position within the Performance Management Hub (PMH), Reinsurance Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department.
In this position, you will be leading and developing an agile team that acts as the center of competence for financial modelling knowledge, plan production process & associated projects. Ensure that the team has in-depth understanding of the modelling tools used for the construction of the financial plans for the Reinsurance Business Unit
The core mandates include:

  • Leading and further developing the Financial Modelling team which consists of technical experts in the actuarial and non-actuarial field. The team represents the backbone for plan and performance management processes across the Business Unit.
  • Ensuring smooth operation of the modelling tools used for the development of the financial plans for the Reinsurance Business Unit including the constructions of balance sheets / income / cash flow statement in all relevant valuations and required dimensions.
  • Ensure accurate initialization of planning and forward-looking financial models, good understanding of the scenario modelling tools used for supporting the top-down planning activities
  • Ensure execution of controls for planning and scenario modelling, evidenced and that issues are raised appropriately
  • Contribute to improvement and further development of the financial modelling tools (provide use cases, business analysis, specification, testing), mainly based on Stargate/Palantir. This includes further expanding the team's knowledge in IFRS and PySpark
  • Actively contribute to the continued standardizing and automation of the existing plan production. Lead the development of the new plan production process under IFRS
  • Support the creation of management meeting material and documentation related to plan and scenarios
  • Contribute to maintaining the standards and governance around plan and performance and to the continued development
  • Contribute & build expertise in programs like IFRS


About the team:
Within Reinsurance Financial Planning & Analysis, the Financial Modelling team supports managing the financial performance of the Business Unit and Divisions within Reinsurance. The team's responsibilities include running the financial planning process within Reinsurance with forward looking modelling.
This also includes the operation and continued improvement of the modelling tools used for planning and forward-looking modelling.
A position in the Planning team gives a wide range of opportunity to expand the understanding of the financial mechanics of the reinsurance business and the key drivers for profitability in (re-)insurance.

About you:
  • Leadership experience and consistent track record in cross functional and agile leadership situations
  • Overall 14+ years of working experience in actuarial or finance functions within (re)insurance industry
  • Project management experience from a business or IT perspective
  • Operating well in matrix setup; strong sense for community and always seeking collaborative approach
  • Good understanding of EVM (or similar economic based accounting framework), US GAAP, IFRS accounting frameworks
  • Experience with P&C or L&H actuarial modelling and/or financial statements modelling
