B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the complete engineering function covering
pressure vessel design, structural fabrication, piping systems, and detail engineering
, ensuring
technical compliance, cost optimization, timely project execution, and coordination with production, quality, and project teams
.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Leadership & Management
Head overall
engineering department
including design, drafting, and technical documentation teams
Develop
engineering strategies, standards, and SOPs
aligned with project and business goals
Guide, mentor, and review work of
senior engineers, design engineers, and draftsmen
Plan engineering resources and workload as per project schedules
2. Pressure Vessel Engineering
Overall responsibility for
design, review, and approval
of pressure vessels
Ensure compliance with
ASME Section VIII (Div 1 & 2), PD 5500, AD 2000
, etc.
Review:
Design calculations
GA & fabrication drawings
Material selection and thickness calculations
Coordinate with
TPI, clients, and statutory authorities
during design approvals
3. Structural Engineering
Lead engineering for
heavy and light structural fabrication
Review and approve:
Structural design calculations
Connection detailing
GA & shop drawings
Ensure compliance with
IS, AISC, AWS, Eurocodes
as applicable
Support production for fabrication feasibility and erection methodology
4. Piping Engineering
Lead
piping layout, routing, and stress coordination
Review and approve:
P&IDs
Piping GA, ISO, and spool drawings
Support design for piping supports
Ensure compliance with
ASME B31.1 / B31.3 / B31.8
, project specs, and client standards
5. Detail Engineering & Drafting
Oversee
detail engineering deliverables
including:
Fabrication drawings
BOMs and MTOs
Welding details and NDT requirements
Ensure drawing accuracy to avoid
rework, material wastage, and production delays
Implement drawing revision and document control systems
6. Project Coordination
Act as
single-point engineering contact
for projects
Coordinate with:
Project management
Production & fabrication shop
Quality & inspection
Procurement
Participate in
kick-off meetings, design reviews, and progress reviews
7. Quality, Codes & Compliance
Ensure engineering outputs comply with:
International codes & standards
Client specifications
Statutory and safety requirements
Support audits (client, ISO, ASME, PED, etc.)
Review NCRs and implement engineering corrective actions
8. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
Drive
value engineering initiatives
without compromising quality or safety
Optimize material usage, fabrication methods, and design approaches
Support estimation and tender engineering when required
9. Tools & Software
Ensure effective use of engineering software such as:
PV Elite / Compress / Auto PIPE / Caesar II
STAAD / ETABS
AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Inventor / Tekla
Implement best practices for data management and drawing control
