The Electrical Department Head will be responsible for managing and maintaining all electrical systems, utilities, and equipment across the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with GMP, GEP, and all regulatory requirements while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:1. Electrical Systems Management
Lead and supervise all electrical maintenance and project activities in the plant.
Ensure uninterrupted power supply to all critical pharmaceutical operations.
Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment such as transformers, HT/LT panels, DG sets, UPS, HVAC systems, and clean room equipment.
Maintain and monitor electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and control schematics.
2. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all electrical systems comply with
cGMP
,
GEP
, and
safety standards
.
Maintain calibration and validation documentation for electrical and control systems.
Support internal, external, and regulatory audits (e.g., USFDA, MHRA, WHO, etc.) by providing required electrical documentation and records.
3. Project Execution
Plan and execute electrical projects related to new installations, expansions, and plant modifications.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and project teams for design reviews, commissioning, and qualification of new electrical systems.
Evaluate and approve electrical specifications for new equipment procurement.
4. Energy Management
Implement and monitor energy-saving initiatives and optimize electrical energy consumption.
Prepare and analyze power consumption reports, identify losses, and recommend corrective actions.
Manage energy audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
5. Team Leadership
Lead, train, and mentor the electrical maintenance team.
Prepare shift schedules and ensure 24/7 support for critical manufacturing operations.
Conduct skill assessments and provide training on safety and technical topics.
6. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements related to electrical safety, fire systems, and hazardous area classification.
Conduct periodic safety inspections and risk assessments for electrical installations.
Implement Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and other safety procedures during maintenance work.
Key Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of
pharma manufacturing utilities
(HVAC, clean rooms, water systems, process equipment).
Strong understanding of
electrical systems
(HT/LT systems, DG sets, UPS, VFDs, PLCs).
Familiarity with
GMP, GEP, and regulatory guidelines

Proficiency in
MS Office, AutoCAD

maintenance management systems (SAP/CMMS)

Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
