The Head Chef will manage all culinary operations of the estate, ensuring high-quality meals, menu planning, kitchen hygiene, staff supervision, and exceptional guest experience. This role requires a creative, disciplined chef with experience in luxury hospitality, private households, or premium restaurants.
Key Responsibilities:Culinary Operations
Plan and prepare daily meals based on guest preferences and dietary requirements.
Create seasonal menus, special event menus, and bespoke culinary experiences.
Ensure consistent quality, taste, presentation, and timely service of all meals.
Source fresh, high-quality ingredients (local, organic, artisanal).
Develop new dishes and maintain culinary innovation.
Kitchen Management
Oversee complete kitchen functioning including mise en place, cooking, plating, and cleaning.
Maintain hygiene and safety standards as per FSSAI norms.
Manage pantry, inventory, stock rotation, and reduce wastage.
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
Staff Supervision
Lead and supervise kitchen staff, commis, helpers, and stewarding.
Train team members on recipes, hygiene, and service standards.
Create shift schedules and ensure smooth daily operations.
Estate & Guest Coordination
Customize menus based on guest preferences, allergies, and special occasions.
Coordinate with the estate manager for event planning, parties, and gatherings.
Provide high-end dining experiences with a focus on hospitality and discretion.
Ensure seamless service for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, high tea, etc.
Procurement & Budgeting
Handle vendor coordination, ingredient sourcing, and price negotiations.
Maintain cost control without compromising quality.
Track monthly kitchen expenses and submit reports to estate management.
Requirements:
Proven experience as Head Chef / Sous Chef in luxury hotels, resorts, premium restaurants, or private estates.
Strong knowledge of Indian, Continental, Pan-Asian and/or multi-cuisine.
Ability to plan menus, manage events, and handle last-minute requests.
Excellent leadership, communication, and kitchen administration skills.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen protocols.
Flexibility to work extended hours or during special events.
High levels of professionalism, discretion, and trustworthiness.
Preferred Qualifications:
Culinary degree or professional chef certification.
Previous private household or estate experience (preferred but not mandatory).
Ability to cater to dietary needs like vegan, gluten-free, keto, etc.
