The Head Cashier is responsible for supervising all billing and cash counter operations, ensuring accuracy in transactions, maintaining cash registers, managing the cashier team, and upholding excellent customer service standards. This role also ensures adherence to company policies, smooth cash flow, and error-free financial transactions at the store.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Cash Management
Handle all cash, card, UPI, and digital transactions with 100% accuracy.
Ensure timely cash deposition and maintain cash register limits.
Prepare daily cash summaries, counter-wise reconciliations, and submit reports to Accounts/Store Manager.
Monitor cash shortage/excess issues and maintain strict control.
B. Team Supervision
Lead, train, and supervise the cashier team.
Prepare cashier duty rosters and ensure adequate counter coverage.
Conduct performance checks and ensure adherence to billing standards.
C. Customer Service
Resolve billing-related customer queries or escalations immediately.
Ensure fast billing, minimal waiting time, and smooth checkout experience.
Support customers in payment issues, returns, exchanges, and refunds as per policy.
D. Compliance & Controls
Ensure all cashiers follow SOPs related to billing and cash handling.
Maintain accuracy of POS systems, discount entries, and GST compliance.
Ensure safe storage of cash, coupons, discount vouchers, and payment slips.
Prevent fraudulent transactions or policy violations.
E. Reporting & Coordination
Coordinate with Accounts, Inventory, and Store Managers for smooth operations.
Submit daily sales reports, closing reports, refund logs, and cash statements.
Ensure all POS systems, scanners, and printers are functioning properly.

4. Qualifications

Standing for long hours during peak periods.
