To lead and oversee the accounts and financial reporting function for the Steel & Power business from the Corporate Office. The role requires deep understanding of industry-specific financial practices, regulatory compliance, and strong leadership skills to manage a team and coordinate with plant-level finance heads.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as per statutory norms.
Ensure proper consolidation of accounts for all units (steel, power, captive mines if any).
2. Budgeting and Forecasting
Coordinate and consolidate annual budgets and rolling forecasts across units.
Monitor actual performance vs budget and report variances with actionable insights.
3. Statutory Compliance & Audits
Ensure timely compliance with all statutory requirements - GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, etc.
Liaise with statutory, internal, and tax auditors; ensure audit readiness and address audit observations.
4. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Establish and maintain strong internal control systems.
Drive process improvements in accounting and reporting systems (Tally, ERP - SAP, Oracle, etc.).
5. Cost Control & MIS
Work closely with plant teams for cost monitoring, analysis and control.
Prepare regular MIS reports for management decision-making.
6. Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts team at corporate and coordinate with plant-level finance personnel.
Act as a liaison between the corporate office and plant finance teams.
7. Stakeholder Management
Handle financial queries from senior management, statutory bodies, and financial institutions.
Support CFO in strategic financial planning and investor communications, if required.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
Sound knowledge of Companies Act, Direct & Indirect Tax laws, etc.
Industry exposure in steel/power/mining or heavy manufacturing is essential.
Proficient in Tally/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Profile:
Chartered Accountant (CA) with 10-15 years of experience in steel/power or similar heavy industries.
Experience in a corporate finance role with exposure to plant accounting preferred.
Age between 35-50 years.
Stable career track record with leadership experience.
Ready to visit plant site whenever needed
