Ensure proper receiving, grading, fumigation, and storage of hatching eggs.
Monitor egg setting schedules and maintain incubator/setter/ hatcher parameters (temperature, humidity, ventilation).
Check turning systems, candling results, and embryonic mortality patterns.
Maintain incubation logs and hatch reports accurately.
2. Hatchery Operations
Supervise daily operations including setting, transfer, hatching, chick grading, and dispatch.
Ensure high hatchability and chick uniformity with minimal culls.
Follow proper vaccination procedures (Mareks, Spray vaccines, etc.).
Manage feed, disinfectant, vaccine, and equipment stock.
3. Biosecurity & Hygiene
Enforce strict biosecurity protocols inside and around the hatchery.
Monitor sanitation procedures--cleaning, disinfection, fumigation.
Ensure PPE compliance for workers (aprons, masks, boots, gloves).
Maintain pest control, waste management, and hygiene audits.
4. Staff Supervision & Training
Allocate duties to hatchery workers and monitor performance.
Conduct training on egg handling, vaccination, hygiene, and safety.
Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with SOPs.
5. Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate records: egg receipt, transfer, hatchability, fertility, chick yield, mortality.
Submit daily/weekly/monthly operational reports to the Hatchery Manager.
Update equipment maintenance logs and calibration reports.
6. Chick Dispatch & Customer Coordination
Ensure proper chick counting, grading, sexing (if applicable), and packing.
Coordinate with farms/distributors for chick delivery schedules.
Resolve customer complaints related to chick quality.
7. Equipment Management
Monitor operation of incubators, hatchers, generators, HVAC systems.
Coordinate preventive maintenance with the technical team.
Troubleshoot minor breakdowns to avoid hatch loss.
8. Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to animal welfare, statutory, and company guidelines.
Conduct periodic safety checks and emergency response training.
Maintain audit-ready documentation.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma/Degree in Poultry Science, Agriculture, Veterinary, Life Sciences.
2-5 years experience in hatchery operations preferred.
Knowledge of incubation technology, ventilation, hygiene, and biosecurity.
Leadership, problem-solving, and strong reporting skills.
