Role Purpose
To provide reliable, timely, and safe hardware and peripheral support to ensure uninterrupted functioning of hospital IT systems, directly contributing to patient care, operational efficiency, and compliance with NABH standards.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Hardware & Peripheral Support
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, biometric devices, and other hospital peripherals.
Troubleshoot and repair hardware issues, escalating to vendors when required.
Maintain inventory and tagging of IT assets as per hospital policy.
2.
Hospital-Specific IT Equipment
Provide support for devices integrated with Hospital Information Systems (HIS), LIS, PACS, and other clinical applications.
Coordinate with biomedical engineering for IT-enabled medical equipment (monitors, imaging workstations, etc.).
3.
Network & Connectivity
Assist in setting up LAN connections, Wi-Fi access, and IP configuration for end-user devices.
Verify connectivity to HIS/EMR, printers, and PACS nodes.
4.
User Support
Respond to IT helpdesk tickets related to hardware and peripheral issues.
Provide on-site support to doctors, nurses, and staff in wards, ICUs, OPD, and admin areas.
Guide users on proper handling and preventive care of hardware devices.
5.
Preventive Maintenance
Conduct routine checks on critical IT hardware (UPS, printers, terminals).
Document preventive maintenance tasks and report potential risks.
6.
Data Protection & Compliance
Ensure hardware is used in compliance with hospital IT and data security policies.
Wipe or sanitize storage devices before disposal or reallocation.
Support in downtime drills and assist in recovery procedures.
7.
Documentation & Reporting
Update hardware asset movement forms, maintenance logs, and repair records.
Maintain compliance evidence for NABH audits (asset register, AMC details, service records).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
% of hardware issues resolved within SLA.
First-time resolution rate for tickets.
Asset register accuracy (%).
Preventive maintenance compliance rate.
User satisfaction scores for IT support.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Diploma/Graduate in Computer Science, IT, or Electronics.
Certifications (Preferred):
CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCP, or equivalent.
Experience:
1-3 years in hardware support, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting.
Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
Knowledge of hospital IT systems (HIS/LIS/PACS).
Basic networking (LAN, Wi-Fi, IP addressing).
Familiarity with ITIL/helpdesk practices.
Good communication and customer service orientation.
Behavioral Competencies
Service-oriented and patient-care focused.
Ability to work under pressure in clinical environments (ICU/OT).
Team player with coordination skills (with IT, clinical, and biomedical staff).
Willingness to work in shifts and during emergencies.
