1.Core Technical Skills

Instrument Proficiency:

Exceptional mastery of various guitar types (acoustic, electric, classical, or bass) is required.

Genre Versatility:

Ability to play across multiple genres like jazz, rock, pop, or classical to meet diverse client needs.

Sight Reading & Theory:

Proficiency in reading sheet music, tabs, and a solid understanding of music theory are often mandatory for professional session work.

Improvisation & Composition:

Skill in creating original melodies and improvising during live or recorded sessions.

2. Professional Responsibilities

Performance & Recording:

Delivering high-quality live performances (solo or in a band) and recording tracks in studio environments.

Equipment Maintenance:

Regularly maintaining gear, including guitars, amplifiers, and effect pedals.

Rehearsals:

Punctual attendance at rehearsals to refine tracks and coordinate with other musicians.

Collaboration:

Working effectively with composers, producers, and fellow band members to achieve a cohesive sound.

3. Education & Experience

Formal Education:

While not always strictly required, a

Bachelor's degree in Music

or Classical Music is highly advantageous for professional roles.

Portfolio:

Employers often require a "demo" or recordings of previous work to gauge talent and style.

Certification:

Grade-level certifications (e.g., Grade 8) from recognized music boards are standard for teaching and certain orchestral roles.

4. Soft Skills & Career Management

Networking & Branding:

Building a strong social media presence and networking within the industry to secure new gigs.

Communication:

Interpersonal skills are vital for managing relationships with bandmates, clients, or students.

The ability to travel frequently for tours, performances, and auditions.
