Purpose of the Job

: Responsible for managing entire logistics at national level with respect to service levels within a defined freight budget. To ensure delivery of finished goods from plants to RDCs and Area Business Units and of RM and Capital items from vendors to plants, in a timely manner within company guidelines. Also to ensure smooth administration and functioning of RDC warehouses to facilitate smooth flow of goods through them, as per company guidelines. Drive innovation for cost reduction and productivity improvements.

Major Responsibilities

: Responsible for preparing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all operations. Collaborates with key stakeholders to update, streamline, and enforce these guidelines effectively within the organization.

Transportation Management

Utilize Transportation Management System (TMS) for real-time tracking, route optimization, and performance analytics. Monitor vehicle placement, lead times, transporter performance, and transit times for FG/RM shipments. Develop transporters and new routes, ensuring efficient and cost-effective service. Manage and track freight expenses within the budget, initiating corrective actions where necessary.

Transport Budget Monitoring and Planning Support

Control freight budget by optimizing lanes, transporter capacities, and rates. Implement cost-saving initiatives using data-driven insights. Develop strategies to improve overall service levels while keeping expenses in check.

Logistics Service Provider (LSP) Management

Develop and drive LSP strategy for long-term efficiency. Ensure 100% transparency through TMS-based track and trace mechanisms. Promote Apollo's safety culture within the LSP community.

Warehousing

Provide strategic inputs on warehouse network design and site identification. Oversee performance monitoring of Distribution Centers (DCs). Enhance space utilization and storage density.

MIS & Analytics

Publish TMS-integrated dashboards on SLAs, KPIs, and audit scores. Conduct real-time data analytics for predictive transportation planning.

Commercial

Handle LSP accounts and oversee the closure of insurance claims within stipulated time frames. Manage contractual negotiations and compliance with transport vendors.

Innovation & Cost Reduction

Implement cost-reduction initiatives through data-driven route optimization. Improve operational metrics such as Truck Turnaround Time (TAT), load ability, and productivity. Drive digital transformation in transportation using AI-enabled TMS solutions.

KPI'S:

Indent Vs Placement of vehicles. Freight Cost vs Budget/Percentage Cost reduction YoY. Minimization of operational cost. Insurance Case Closures in stipulated time frame. Employee Feedback.

Knowledge (Technical / Functional)

Transportation - Market Rates / Lanes Vendor Management Knowledge of Transporters Hands on knowledge of relevant SAP modules/Power BI Cargo / Rail / Inland waterways freight knowledge Well versed in MS Excel
