Incorporated as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931, the company was set up initially as a small operation in Konnagar (near Calcutta) in 1932. In January 1934, the foundation stone for the first building of Bata's operation - now called the Bata. In the years that followed, the overall site was doubled in area. This township is popularly known as Batanagar. It was also the first manufacturing facility in the Indian shoe industry to receive the ISO: 9001 certification.

The Company also operates a large non-retail distribution network through its urban wholesale division and caters to millions of customers through over 30,000 dealers.



StrategicDevelop and execute financial strategies that align with the firm's objectives, fostering long-term financial health. Assist in defining of budgeting guidelines for regions based on discussions with the management and Business stakeholders. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, facilitating timely financial reporting to support transparency and accountability. Proactively drive growth and profitability initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and optimizing resource allocation Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts to guide strategic business decisions. Establish performance indicators to monitor and assess financial performance, facilitating informed decision-making.
OperationalConduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights into operational performance. Generate regular financial reports for internal stakeholders, highlighting key metrics and trends. Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks. Work closely with various business units to understand operational needs and align financial strategies accordingly. Provide financial guidance to operational teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance and operational domains. Implement streamlined procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Ensure seamless integration of financial systems for accurate and efficient reporting.
Leadership and DevelopmentManage a team and ensure smooth and seamless functioning of operations by reviewing team's performance on a regular basis and suggesting ways of improvement. Oversee training and capability building of employees in the function to facilitate career growth and ensure effective succession planning for key positions. Full transparency across the end-to-end value chain with performance metrics in place to highlight improvement areas and put metrics in place for continuous improvement. Ensuring a good service and performance culture focused on a 'partnership and customer centric' approach. Ability to maintain good relations with external parties/outsourced parties to ensure smooth and well-integrated functioning of various parts of the FSS. Ensure effective people management and development of the team, including staffing & selection of senior management, building a strong team culture.

Job Requirement



Educational Background:Qualified Chartered Accountant and/or. Master's in business administration from a top-tier program
Experience:10-15 years of experience in a finance shared services like organization in India or a multi-National company with global operations. 5+ years managerial experience
Skills & Competencies:Strong understanding of regional processes In depth knowledge of corporate finance and business operations in relevant industry Qualified in Finance & Accounting signifying in depth knowledge of the finance function. Ability to operate at a strategic level. Experience from similar industry Strong understanding of finance systems and processes Certified Lean Six Sigma (Black belt), Scrum Certification is a plus.
Inter-personal skills and attributes required to meet position objectives:Excellent communication and decision-making skills Ability to effectively coach and develop team members. Highly articulate, with the ability to challenge current state and deliver compelling, well-structured arguments for change. Fluency in English (both written and oral) Understanding of native local language is preferred.
