Job Description

1. Role Overview



The Ground Reporter is responsible for

on-the-field news collection, live reporting, interviews, and real-time updates

from locations of political, social, economic, cultural, or crisis events.
The role requires

strong communication skills, fast response, sharp observation, and the ability to report from challenging environments

.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. On-Ground Reporting



Visit locations of news events such as: Political rallies, protests, elections Crime scenes Social issues Natural disasters Government programs Public opinion (P2C--Person to Camera interviews) Provide live updates and ground-level footage. Capture visuals, atmosphere, reactions, and real conditions. Prepare factual, unbiased reports from the spot.

B. Interviews & Public Interaction



Conduct on-the-spot interviews with: Eyewitnesses Officials Local citizens Victims or affected communities Experts available on-ground Ask sharp, relevant, and simple questions for public clarity. Gather multiple perspectives to ensure balanced reporting.

C. Scripting & Content Creation



Prepare field notes, mobile journalism reports, and voice-overs. Script short video reports, YouTube shorts, and Instagram reels. Write crisp and factual news scripts for anchors/editors. Capture B-rolls, atmosphere shots, and context visuals.

D. Video Shooting & Mobile Journalism



Shoot video using mobile, DSLR, or professional camera. Ensure clear visuals, stable shots, and quality audio. Use live-stream tools for social media platforms. Basic editing ability preferred (on mobile or laptop).

E. Networking & Source Development



Build contacts with: Police officials Local leaders Journalists NGOs Community representatives Verify information and avoid misinformation. Maintain ethical journalism standards.

F. Crisis & Emergency Reporting



Report from challenging situations like: Protests Floods Fire incidents Accident sites Public disputes Maintain personal safety while capturing authentic ground truth.

3. Skills & Competencies Required



Strong communication in

Hindi and English

(regional language is a plus). Confident on camera; ability to speak clearly and naturally. Fast thinking and quick decision-making in dynamic situations. Good understanding of political and social issues. Ability to simplify complex stories for the public. Basic video shooting and mobile journalism skills. Calm under pressure; comfortable with long hours and travel. Sharp observational skills; ability to "read" situations quickly.

4. Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in: Journalism Mass Communication Political Science Sociology or any field with strong reporting interest Training in digital media / filmmaking / editing is a plus. Freshers passionate about reporting are welcome with a demo reel.

5. Experience



0-5 years in field reporting, digital journalism, YouTube journalism. Experience in ground coverage or citizen journalism preferred.

6. Personal Attributes



Fearless, energetic, and curious. Commitment to truth, ethics, and unbiased reporting. Physically strong and mentally stable to handle field pressure. Adaptable to different environments -- rural & urban. Passionate about journalism and public issues.
