Grinder Operator

Key Responsibilities:

Perform

grinding, finishing, and deburring

operations on heavy sheet metal components. Use

hand grinders, bench grinders, and power tools

to smooth welds, remove excess material, and prepare parts for further fabrication. Handle

cutting, grinding, polishing, and surface preparation

tasks as per job requirements. Work with

welded parts

, ensuring proper finishing and quality of welded joints. Maintain knowledge of

sheet metal grades, thickness, and finishing standards

. Inspect finished components to ensure they meet

dimensional and surface quality

specifications. Follow proper

safety practices

, including PPE usage and safe operation of grinding tools. Assist in

material handling, fabrication, and shop-floor activities

as required. Report tool maintenance needs and ensure proper upkeep of grinding equipment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Hands-on experience with

grinders

(portable, bench, angle grinders). Strong understanding of

heavy sheet metal fabrication processes

. Ability to work with

welded assemblies

and perform finishing as per standards. Knowledge of

measuring instruments

like gauges, tape, vernier (basic). Good understanding of

safety standards

in fabrication and grinding operations. ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Fabrication, or equivalent trades (preferred).
