About Pehlay Akshar Foundation

Since 2008, Pehlay Akshar has been transforming the way students learn and teachers teach. Its mission is to empower every child in India with English literacy and 21st-century skills to make them job-ready. The Foundation works with teachers and children in partnership with state governments across India.

Pehlay Akshar operates 14 English Rooms -- 10 in BMC schools, 2 in Pune, and 2 in Thane. These shared learning spaces act as innovation hubs where facilitators test new ideas, refine methods. Each room has books, digital tools, and trained staff to help students improve their English. Schools also receive training, workshops, and access to a learning management system to use the space effectively. It has also developed a mobile version called the English Room on Wheels. This portable model carries the learnings of the English Rooms and teacher training to more communities, supporting government schools across regions. Once trained, schools take charge of running it.

Overview of the Role:

We at Pehlay Akshar are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer with 2-3 years of hands-on experience to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong visual design sense, be comfortable working across both digital and print platforms, and be proficient in tools such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and other relevant design software

Areas of Responsibility:

Create engaging and visually appealing designs for digital and print materials such as social media posts, posters, brochures, presentations, banners, and creatives

Design content aligned with brand guidelines and communication objectives

Collaborate with internal teams (HR/Marketing/Communications) to understand design requirements and deliver creatives on time

Edit, revise, and optimize designs based on feedback

Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Stay updated with current design trends and tools

Qualifications & Skills

Proficiency in design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva) and video editing software (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro) Experience in managing vendors and multi-stakeholder projects Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
