Job Description

Conceptualize and execute design for approximately 84 (+12) titles a year with guidance from Art Director and Publisher*.
Work collaboratively with members of the Design and Editorial teams on the development of the book from concept to finish. Keep projects on a timely schedule and keep supervisor in the loop on projects. Design covers for your assigned projects. Color correct with production when possible. Archive all projects on time and be aware of production status. Provide design support to supervisors, as needed. Provide general assistance on special projects, as needed. Minimum 2-3 years of design experience preferred Book cover design experience strongly preferred Solid understanding of production process, color correction of proofs, timely routing of materials Pre-press experience preferred Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to set priorities under pressure Strong Mac skills and design skills using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator Ability to work effectively in a team setting A strong interest in books College degree or equivalent work experience in Graphic Design, Typography, and/or Illustration preferred
