Position Summary
The Government Sales professional will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing business opportunities with government bodies, PSUs, and public sector organizations. The role involves handling end-to-end government sales activities including tendering, bidding, compliance, relationship management, and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and develop business opportunities with Central Government, State Government, PSUs, and other public sector entities.
Track and analyze government tenders, RFPs, RFQs, and GeM portal opportunities relevant to the company's offerings.
Prepare and submit bids, tenders, proposals, and documentation in coordination with internal stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with tender requirements, eligibility criteria, statutory norms, and timelines.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, decision-makers, and procurement teams.
Coordinate with internal teams (operations, finance, legal, technical) to ensure smooth execution of awarded contracts.
Negotiate commercial terms and support contract finalization as per government procurement norms.
Monitor project progress, billing, collections, and closure of government contracts.
Maintain accurate records of tenders, contracts, and client communications.
Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to management.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of government procurement processes and tendering procedures.
Experience with GeM portal, e-tendering portals, and public procurement systems (preferred).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to interpret tender documents, compliance matrices, and contractual terms.
Strong coordination and documentation skills.
Result-oriented with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Relevant certifications or exposure to government procurement processes will be an added advantage.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in Government / Institutional / PSU sales (can be adjusted as per role level).
Proven track record of handling government tenders and closing deals with public sector clients.
