Job Description

The Senior Gold Refinery Chemist is responsible for supervising gold refining processes, ensuring consistent high purity and recovery, and providing technical leadership to junior chemists and laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and execute gold refining processes (aqua regia, chlorination, electrolysis, precipitation) Oversee fire assay, wet chemical analysis, and instrumental testing of gold and by-products Ensure gold purity levels of up to 99.99% and optimal metal recovery Lead troubleshooting of process deviations and implement corrective actions Review and validate laboratory results, reports, and metal accounting data Train, mentor, and supervise junior chemists and technicians Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards Support audits, certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering 5-7 years' experience in gold refining or precious metals processing Strong hands-on expertise in gold chemistry and refining techniques Leadership experience in a refinery or metallurgical laboratory environment Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
