Job Title: Graduate Engineer Trainee (Civil)

The Graduate Engineer Trainee (Civil) will undergo structured on-the-job training across various functions of the project lifecycle, including planning, estimation, execution, quality control, safety, and project documentation. The role involves learning and supporting day-to-day civil engineering operations at site, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project schedules.

The trainee will be exposed to foundation works, RCC and structural activities, finishing works, quantity calculations, and vendor coordination. The role demands a strong willingness to learn, high attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Execution & Supervision

Assist in monitoring civil execution activities such as excavation, shuttering, reinforcement, concreting, masonry, plastering, flooring, finishing works, etc. Ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, and method statements. Track daily work progress and report deviations in schedule, quality, or resources.
2. Quality Assurance & Quality Control

Support QA/QC team in conducting material testing (cement, aggregates, concrete, steel). Check line, level, dimensions and workmanship at site. Maintain QA documentation including test reports, cube test logs, pour cards, and inspection requests (IRs).
3. Planning & Coordination

Assist the planning team in preparing daily/weekly progress reports, DPRs, WPRs, RA bills, and quantity take-offs. Coordinate with subcontractors for manpower, materials, and daily execution targets. Follow up with stores for material indenting, GRNs, and issuance.
4. Drawing & Documentation

Work with the engineering team on reviewing AutoCAD drawings, understanding GFC (Good for Construction) drawings, and updating site sketches. Maintain documentation such as site registers, RFI logs, inspection sheets, and project checklists. Learn to interpret structural drawings, reinforcement detailing, bar bending schedules (BBS).
5. Safety & Compliance

Ensure adherence to site safety protocols, PPE compliance, and hazard identification. Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and compliance checks as per project safety standards.
6. Material & Resource Management

Assist in monitoring material consumption, reducing wastage, and ensuring proper storage. Learn procurement processes for civil materials like cement, steel, aggregates, shuttering materials, finishing items, etc.

Required Qualifications

Educational

B.E / B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university. Strong fundamentals in structural engineering, construction materials, surveying, and project management.
Technical Skills

Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project / Primavera (optional), STAAD basics (optional). Understanding of IS Codes, construction drawings, concrete technology, and testing procedures. Ability to read, interpret, and work with engineering drawings and specifications.
