Duties

Measure clients accurately to determine tailoring requirements Cut fabric and pattern pieces according to design specifications Sew and assemble garments using various techniques, including hand-stitching and machine sewing Alter and adjust clothing to ensure proper fit and finish Repair damaged or worn clothing items efficiently and effectively Select appropriate fabrics, threads, and accessories for each project Maintain a clean and organised workspace to uphold safety standards Communicate with clients regarding their preferences and provide expert advice on garment fitting and style options

Requirements

Proven experience as a Tailor or in a similar role within the fashion or garment industry Strong knowledge of sewing techniques, pattern making, and fabric properties Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to interpret technical drawings and client instructions accurately Proficiency in using sewing machines, cutting tools, and pressing equipment Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to deadlines A recognised qualification in tailoring or dressmaking is desirable but not essential
