About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled

General Surgeon

to lead surgical services at our healthcare facility in Nauru. This critical role involves performing a range of surgical procedures, overseeing junior medical staff, and contributing to surgical governance and patient safety in a resource-limited setting.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general and emergency surgical procedures with a high standard of care Provide clinical leadership and oversight to surgical and perioperative teams Supervise, mentor, and support junior surgeons and medical officers Ensure surgical protocols and infection control measures are followed Collaborate with anesthetists, nurses, and other health professionals to deliver integrated care Manage pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records Participate in on-call duties as required Support capacity building and training for local healthcare staff

Qualifications and Experience

Medical degree and specialist qualification in surgery from a recognized institution Current medical registration with eligibility for licensing in host country Minimum

5-10 years

of surgical experience, including leadership roles Proficiency in a broad range of general and emergency surgical procedures Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills Prior experience in remote, rural, or resource-limited healthcare settings is highly desirable
