Perform a full range of general surgical procedures including open and laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair (TEP/TAPP), bowel resection, exploratory laparotomy, laparoscopic adhesiolysis, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hemorrhoidectomy, fistulotomy, and wound debridement.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic imaging and laboratory results.
Develop individualized surgical treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques, surgical safety protocols, and hospital policies during all procedures.
Manage postoperative care, including monitoring for complications, prescribing medications, and coordinating rehabilitation.
Participate in emergency surgical coverage and on-call rotations as required.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records, operative notes, and follow-up plans.
Engage in continuous learning through case reviews, morbidity and mortality conferences, and professional development activities.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
MBBS degree with a recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery (MS or equivalent).
Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and state medical council.
Proficiency in performing open and laparoscopic surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair (TEP/TAPP), bowel resection, exploratory laparotomy, laparoscopic adhesiolysis, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hemorrhoidectomy, fistulotomy, and wound debridement.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to manage surgical emergencies effectively.
Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional growth.
Willingness to participate in on-call duties and emergency surgical coverage.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and hospital information systems.
